MOUNTAIN STATE SMASH BURGER

 
 

What’s a smash burger? A smash burger is a burger pressed and smashed with a burger press into a thin patty as soon as it is placed on the grill. This helps to elevate the flavor and create additional browning as the patty remains juicy. Making a smashburger is perfect to combine with delicious Mountain State Ground Beef!


SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  •  ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 ½ tsp Dijon mustard

  • one tablespoon yellow mustard

  • one tablespoon honey

  • one tablespoon BBQ sauce

SAUCE PREPARATION

Whisk all ingredients until creamy and combined. Serve on sandwiches.


 

SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb of Mountain State Ground Beef

  • one ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 to 6 ounces of smoked gouda cheese, thinly sliced, is vital!

  • Buns for serving

  • Lettuce, tomato, onion, spinach – whatever you like!

BURGER INSTRUCTIONS

1.      Separate the ground beef into portions, most likely four equal parts. Form into balls that are slightly bigger than a meatball, so they smash more like a circle

2.      Brush the skillet with oil and place half the butter on the skillet.

3.      Place burgers on the stove over medium heat.

4.      Smash patties with burger press immediately

5.       You want the patty to be about ½ inch thick, and try only to smash the patty 2 or 3 times

6.      Season with salt and pepper and repeat with the rest of the beef

7.      Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip, season with salt and pepper and cook for 2 minutes more.

8.      Add the cheese and let it melt.

9.      Remove burgers from the pan with a spatula and serve immediately with the sauce with your favorite toppings!
